The addition of nutrients that increase insulin levels and/or improve insulin sensitivity has been a major source of interest in the last few years by scientists looking to optimize the ergogenic effects of creatine. The addition of certain macronutrients appears to significantly augment muscle retention of creatine. Green et al. [ 24 ] reported that adding 93 g of carbohydrate to 5 g of CM increased total muscle creatine by 60%. Likewise, Steenge et al. [ Converse Metallic Leather Sneakers 8QehCm7V8
] reported that adding 47 g of carbohydrate and 50 g of protein to CM was as effective at promoting muscle retention of creatine as adding 96 g of carbohydrate. Additional investigations by Greenwood and colleagues [ 30 , 43 ] have reported increased creatine retention from the addition of dextrose or low levels of D-pinitol (a plant extract with insulin-like properties). While the addition of these nutrients has proved to increase muscle retention, several recent investigations have reported these combinations to be no more effective at improving muscle strength and endurance or athletic performance [ 44 , 45 , 46 ]. Other recent studies, however, have indicated a potential benefit on anaerobic power, muscle hypertrophy, and 1 RM muscle strength when combining protein with creatine [ Jimmy choo Belle boots sN6zfhJx
, 48 ]. It appears that combining CM with carbohydrate or carbohydrate and protein produces optimal results. Studies suggest that increasing skeletal muscle creatine uptake may enhance the benefits of training.

CM appears to be the most effective nutritional supplement currently available in terms of improving lean body mass and anaerobic capacity. To date, several hundred peer-reviewed research studies have been conducted to evaluate the efficacy of CM supplementation in improving exercise performance. Nearly 70% of these studies have reported a significant improvement in exercise capacity, while the others have generally reported non-significant gains in performance [ Paul Green Womens Sahara Slingback Flat i5UlFylWNg
]. No studies have reported an ergolytic effect on performance although some have suggested that weight gain associated with CM supplementation could be detrimental in sports such as running or swimming. The average gain in performance from these studies typically ranges between 10 to 15% depending on the variable of interest. For example, short-term CM supplementation has been reported to improve maximal power/strength (5–15%), work performed during sets of maximal effort muscle contractions (5–15%), single-effort sprint performance (1–5%), and work performed during repetitive sprint performance (5–15%) [ 49 ]. Long-term CM supplementation appears to enhance the overall quality of training, leading to 5 to 15% greater gains in strength and performance [ 49 ]. Nearly all studies indicate that "proper" CM supplementation increases body mass by about 1 to 2 kg in the first week of loading [ 19 ].

RID: a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing hospital-acquired infections.

Fourteen years ago, I launched a national campaign to stop hospital infections, RID (Reduce Infection Deaths). Our success record is astonishing and our mission is more vital now than ever.

Antibiotics are losing their mojo, as germs adapt to them. Already, two million people in the U.S. contract drug-resistant infections each year, and thousands die from them. Television and newspaper headlines are warning of a post-antibiotic age. The Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths (RID) is on the front lines, meeting this challenge. Here is what you need to know.

All the benefits of medical science depend on being able to prevent and treat hospital infections. Otherwise procedures we take for granted – including chemotherapy, joint replacement surgery, dialysis, even simple surgeries – would be far too risky to undertake.

Part of the challenge is to keep the pipeline filled with new antibiotics. Since penicillin was first discovered in a moldy petri dish nearly a century ago, most antibiotics have been found in soil and reproduced in labs. The latest is a discovery at Johns Hopkins called Malacidin – short for “killing bad guys.”

Even so, these new antibiotics are years away. Future cures won’t save today’s hospital patients. That’s why RID’s work is so vital. RID educates patients on the precautions they can take to reduce their risk and brings the best research to hospital decision makers on what they can do to shield patients from these drug-resistant germs.

In hospitals, these germs lurk on door knobs, bedrails, and every other surface. Then a patient is admitted, and wham, the germs attack, invading a surgical incision, or climbing in through a breathing device or IV to cause a deadly infection.

New research shows that these drug-resistant germs even lodge inside hospital mattresses, waiting to infect the next patient. Your risk of developing a deadly infection depends on who was lying on that mattress before you.

RID is working to protect you from these risks. RID has a 14-year track record of success.

Fourteen years ago, not one state required hospitals to disclose their infection rates. Now 37 states do. If you have to be hospitalized, you should be able to find out which hospital nearby is the safest.

The hand sanitizers you see installed on walls throughout the hospital are a clear sign of RID’s impact.

RID convinced Medicare officials to stop reimbursing hospitals for treating hospital-caused infections and barred hospitals from charging the patient. Ouch! That means hospitals have to prevent infections to protect their own bottom line. As a result, more hospitals are making infection prevention a top priority.

RID does all this on a shoestring budget, less than $400,000 a year. We’ve been told we save more lives per dollar spent than any other nonprofit. We at RID appreciate your past support. Please give again. Our track record proves your money is spent wisely, not wasted.

To recap, thrilling new antibiotics are on the way. But tomorrow’s miracle drugs will not protect today’s patients. That’s RID’s mission. Please to help us make hospitals safer for you and your family. You can make a donation to the Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths by sending a check to RID, 5 Partridge Hollow Road, Greenwich, CT 06831, or by using a credit card at our online donation form .

This just went out to our mailing list:

Hi Intervention Attendee,

We wanted to reach out to give you some information on Intervention and some upcoming events that might interest you.

As you know, we were not able to schedule Intervention 8 for 2017. We’re still working on when we can bring Intervention back into our schedule–but we wanted to share with you some exciting news on how you can still be involved with some of the great programming we normally do at the event.

We will be announcing soon an entire track of Intervention sponsored programming at both of our upcoming events PotterVerse ( Toral Classic heels tibet XMEmfXHeiZ
) and (Re)Generation Who ( Loewe Square Zip Tall Boots TsU6BQ8
. We expect that up to 25% of the programming at each of those events will be related to topics normally presented at Intervention–things like writing great characters, creating fantasy/sci-fi worlds, how to publish your own works, and many more.

So, if you happen to like the Harry Potter universe, or the Doctor Who universe, you can go and also participate in that fandom as well as the creator oriented things you normally love about Intervention.

PotterVerse is happening September 8-10th, and (Re)Generation Who 4 is taking place March 23-25th. We already have a great line up of guests at PotterVerse (Natalia Tena, Miriaim Margoyles, Devon Murray, and more) and Peter Davison has confirmed for Regen–so you can expect part of our programming to be highlighting the indie works of these actors and other creators at the event.

If you happen to be a VIP level 7 for Intervention, we’re giving you free registration to both of these events this year–it’s already in our system so you can just show up and get your badges at the pre-reg table.

We hope you all can join us at one or both of these upcoming events, and we look forward to seeing you at Intervention 8 in the future. Thank you for your support!

is pleased to announce that on Sept. 8-10, 2017 we will be bringing a 3 day Harry Potter Convention to Baltimore in the same way we brought Doctor Who to Baltimore with our Jimmy choo Womens Globe Glitter Flat 1V8UxXwcf

This probably leaves you with some questions since Sept. 8-10th is normally when Intervention takes place.

We are investigating the dates and location for Intervention 8. Due to several factors involving venue and timing we will be moving Intervention to a different time of the year away from August / September. Our desire is to announce those dates to you in early 2017 for an event to occur in 2018.

Part of the reasoning for the change in timeframe comes down to the ever increasing concentration of events that are happening in August/September in the Mid-Atlantic and the need to place the event during a time where new guests will be able to attend without conflicts. A smaller, general sci-fi / fantasy con can’t compete with so many super sized events taking place in the same area. Last year there were no less than 3 conventions scheduled opposite Intervention within less than a 30 minute car ride.

We are committed to continuing Intervention and will inform the community as soon as we work out the details to bring our 8th year of the event to you.

In the meantime, Oni Hartstein will be focusing her blog on the same Geeky Small Business and Art Marketing, Motivation, and Inspiration topics normally discussed at Intervention complete with celebrity guests and tutorials. This will begin in early 2017 and it will be obsessively comprehensive, so Marni PatentLeather OpenBack Loafers idEpH
and subscribe to her YouTube to take advantage of that when it launches. If you have Facebook, you can post questions that she will make tutorials on in this group. (Or you can email her direct through her blog.)

The best part? Oni’s tutorials are going to be free, so even people who can’t travel to Baltimore can now take advantage of the Intervention way- all year ’round.

As we said earlier we have just announced our newest event, PotterVerse: Maryland’s Harry Potter Convention , which will take place September 8-10th 2017 at the Renaissance Harborplace hotel in Baltimore. Coincidentally, the Hogwart’s theme allows us to put a little bit of Intervention inside it’s programming.

That wasn’t an accident. :)

I hope you can join us this year at PotterVerse and I look forward to informing about about Intervention 8 in the future!
